Ingredients
Scale
For the Cocktail
- 2 oz Tequila (I recommend Patron silver)
- 2.5 oz Pomegranate juice
- 2 oz Orange juice
- 0.5 oz Orange liqueur (e.g., Cointreau)
- 1 tbsp Honey
- ¼ tsp Vanilla extract
- ⅛ tsp Ground cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp Ground ginger
- 1 pinch Cayenne pepper
- Ice (for shaking and serving)
- 1 splash Ginger beer (optional)
For Garnish & Rim
- Slice of tangerine or orange (for glass rim)
- Cinnamon sugar mixture (for rimming the glass)
- 1 cinnamon stick (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the glass rim: Run a slice of tangerine or orange around the rim of a rocks glass to moisten it. Then dip the rim into a cinnamon sugar mixture to coat it evenly. Fill the glass with ice and set aside.
- Mix the cocktail ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, combine pomegranate juice, orange juice, tequila, orange liqueur, honey, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. This blend of ingredients creates the base of your spiced margarita.
- Shake the cocktail: Fill the shaker with ice, secure the lid tightly, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
- Strain into glass: Strain the chilled cocktail mixture into the prepared rocks glass over fresh ice to keep it cool while serving.
- Add ginger beer (optional): For a bubbly and festive touch, add a splash of ginger beer on top of the cocktail to enhance both flavor and fizz.
- Garnish and serve: Finish by garnishing your drink with a cinnamon stick for an aromatic and festive accent. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- If you prefer a less spicy cocktail, reduce or omit the pinch of cayenne pepper.
- The cinnamon sugar rim can be made by mixing equal parts ground cinnamon and granulated sugar.
- Substitute honey with agave syrup or simple syrup according to your taste preference.
- Ginger beer adds a delightful fizz but can be skipped for a stronger margarita flavor.
- Use fresh pomegranate juice for the best flavor; bottled juice works in a pinch.
