S’mores Dip Recipe

  • Author: Harper
  • Total Time: 11-13 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This delightful S’mores Dip is a quick and easy twist on the classic campfire treat, combining melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows in a warm skillet. Perfect for sharing, this indulgent dip pairs beautifully with crunchy graham crackers for scooping.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate

  • 56 bars of 1.55 oz Hershey’s chocolate, broken into pieces

Marshmallows

  • 1 bag of large marshmallows

For Serving

  • Graham crackers, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it’s hot enough for melting the chocolate and toasting the marshmallows evenly.
  2. Prepare Chocolate Base: Break the Hershey chocolate bars into pieces along the lines and spread them evenly on the bottom of an 8 or 9 inch cast iron skillet. If using a different type of pan, grease it lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Be careful not to stack pieces too thickly for even melting.
  3. Add Marshmallows: Layer the marshmallows on top of the chocolate, placing them close together but not compressed, as they will expand when heated.
  4. Bake: Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Keep a close eye starting around 5 minutes to avoid burning the marshmallows. They should turn golden brown and bubbly on top.
  5. Cool Slightly: Once baked, remove the skillet from the oven and allow the dip to rest for about 5 minutes. This rest time lets the chocolate underneath continue melting and thickens slightly for the perfect dipping texture.
  6. Serve: Serve the warm S’mores Dip immediately with graham crackers for dipping. Scoop up the gooey marshmallow and melted chocolate mixture for a delicious treat.

Notes

  • Using a cast iron skillet helps with even heat distribution for melting chocolate and toasting marshmallows.
  • Watch the marshmallows closely to prevent burning as they can quickly go from toasted to burnt.
  • If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, a greased oven-safe pan will work as a substitute.
  • For a fun variation, you can add peanut butter or caramel underneath the chocolate layer before baking.
  • Best served warm for gooey texture; leftovers can be reheated gently in the oven.
