Description
Delicious and easy no-bake bourbon balls made with powdered sugar, butter, bourbon, pecans, and lime juice, coated in rich dark chocolate. Perfect bite-sized treats for parties or holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
Bourbon Balls
- 6 cups powdered sugar
- 1.5 sticks butter (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted)
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
Coating
- 8 ounces dark chocolate wafers or chips
Instructions
- Make the bourbon balls: In a large bowl, mix together the room temperature butter and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined.
- Add remaining ingredients: Stir in the toasted chopped pecans, lime juice, and bourbon, mixing thoroughly to combine all the flavors uniformly.
- Form the balls: Using a scoop or your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls or the size of your preference.
- Chill the balls: Place the formed balls on a tray and chill them in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to firm up.
- Melt the chocolate: While the balls chill, melt the dark chocolate wafers or chips in a double boiler or microwave until smooth and glossy.
- Coat the bourbon balls: Roll each chilled bourbon ball in the melted chocolate to coat all sides or drizzle the chocolate over them if preferred.
- Alternative coating option: If you prefer to skip the chocolate coating, roll the bourbon balls in additional chopped pecans instead for added texture and flavor.
- Final chilling: Place the coated bourbon balls on parchment paper and refrigerate until the chocolate is set and the balls are firm, ready to serve.
Notes
- To toast pecans, spread them on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes or until fragrant, then chop.
- Store bourbon balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- For a stronger or lighter bourbon flavor, adjust the bourbon quantity according to your preference.
- You can substitute bourbon with whiskey or rum if desired.
- Let the chocolate cool slightly but remain melted before dipping to avoid melting the bourbon balls.
- If you don’t have lime juice, a few drops of lemon juice can be used as a substitute.
