  • Author: Harper
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This French Garlic Philly Cheesesteak Bread recipe combines the bold flavors of Philly cheesesteak meat, sautéed onions and peppers, and melted provolone cheese on a crispy French garlic bread base. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal, it’s baked to bubbly, cheesy perfection in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 Loaf frozen French garlic bread

Meat

  • 12 oz. Philly cheesesteak meat
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Vegetables

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese

Seasonings and Oils

  • Olive oil, as needed for sautéing
  • Garlic powder, to taste
  • Onion powder, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the Garlic Bread: Bake the frozen French garlic bread in the oven according to the package instructions. Keep the oven on as you will return the bread to melt the cheese later.
  2. Cook the Meat: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the Philly cheesesteak meat until it is nicely browned. Drain any excess fat, then stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Sauté the Veggies: In a separate skillet, warm a bit of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper, cooking until they become tender and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Layer the Good Stuff: On the baked garlic bread, first spread a layer of shredded provolone cheese. Next, evenly add the seasoned meat, followed by the sautéed vegetables. Top everything with more shredded cheese to ensure extra gooeyness.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Place the loaded garlic bread back in the oven and bake for about 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
  6. Serve & Enjoy: Remove the bread from the oven, slice it into servings, and enjoy a delicious, cheesy Philly cheesesteak sandwich on garlic bread.

Notes

  • You can use fresh French bread instead of frozen if preferred, but adjust baking time accordingly.
  • Feel free to add mushrooms or other vegetables to customize your Philly cheesesteak.
  • To reduce fat, drain excess grease from the meat thoroughly before assembling.
  • For spice lovers, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat while cooking.
  • Make sure to let the meat rest briefly after seasoning to deepen flavor before layering.
