French Dip Tortilla Roll-Ups Recipe

  • Author: Harper
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups are a delicious twist on the classic sandwich, combining thinly sliced roast beef and melted mozzarella or provolone cheese wrapped in warm flour tortillas. Baked until golden and served with a savory homemade au jus dipping sauce, they make a perfect appetizer or easy dinner dish that’s ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Roll Ups

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli style or leftover)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Au Jus

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
  2. Assemble Roll Ups: Lay the flour tortillas flat on a clean surface. Evenly layer the thinly sliced roast beef and shredded cheese down the center of each tortilla.
  3. Roll Tortillas: Tightly roll up each tortilla starting from the edge with the fillings, then place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to keep them closed while baking.
  4. Butter and Season: Brush the tops of the rolled tortillas with melted butter. Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley evenly over them for added flavor and a nice golden finish.
  5. Bake Roll Ups: Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes until the tortillas turn golden brown and the cheese inside melts beautifully.
  6. Prepare Au Jus: While the roll ups are baking, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes to develop rich flavors.
  7. Serve: Remove the roll ups from the oven, slice them into pieces if desired, and serve while warm alongside the savory au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced deli roast beef or leftover roast beef for convenience.
  • For a sharper flavor, try using provolone cheese instead of mozzarella.
  • Make sure to tightly roll the tortillas to prevent fillings from spilling out during baking.
  • You can double the au jus recipe if you prefer extra dipping sauce.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven for best texture.
