Scale
Base Ingredients
- 14.3 oz package (36 cookies) Golden Oreos, crushed into crumbs
- 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
Coating and Decoration
- 10 oz white candy coating, melted (additional for decorating)
- Additional 1 oz of white candy coating per color, for decorating
- Gel icing colors, various
Instructions
- Crush Cookies: Add the Golden Oreo cookies to a food processor or blender and crush into fine crumbs, ensuring an even texture for forming the balls.
- Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the crushed cookie crumbs with the softened cream cheese and mix thoroughly until well combined and moldable.
- Shape Eggs: Using about 1 1/2 tablespoons of the mixture, form the cookie mixture into Easter egg shapes with your hands for a festive look.
- Chill: Place the shaped eggs in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to firm up, which helps them hold shape during dipping.
- Dip in Candy Coating: Melt the 10 ounces of white candy coating. Using a toothpick inserted into each chilled egg bottom, dip them into the melted candy coating. Gently shake off excess coating and place the eggs on parchment paper to dry. Use a small dab of candy coating to fill the hole left by the toothpick.
- Decorate: Melt additional white candy coating one color at a time. Add gel icing colors to achieve desired shades. Pipe or drizzle the colored coatings over the dried Oreo eggs for decoration.
- Store: Keep decorated Oreo eggs refrigerated. They stay fresh for about 1 week, making them ideal for early preparation and entertaining.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
- For best results, crush the cookies into very fine crumbs to help the mixture bind well.
- When dipping, work quickly before the candy coating hardens.
- Use parchment paper to prevent the coated eggs from sticking while drying.
- Store the finished cookie balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
