  • Author: Harper
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 9 servings (3x3 squares) 1x

Description

Indulge in rich and fudgy Dulce de Leche Brownies, a delightful twist on classic brownies with creamy dulce de leche swirled throughout for an irresistible caramel flavor. Perfectly moist and chocolaty, these brownies are a crowd-pleasing dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

For the Dulce de Leche Swirl:

  • 1 cup dulce de leche (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownie Batter: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and mix in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  2. Add Dulce de Leche: Pour half of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan. Spoon dollops of dulce de leche over the batter. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the dulce de leche into the batter. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top and spread gently. Add extra dulce de leche on top for more swirl effect if desired.
  3. Bake the Brownies: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs but no wet batter. Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Serve: Once cooled, slice the brownies into squares and serve as a delicious caramel-chocolate dessert.

Notes

  • For best results, use room temperature eggs to ensure smooth batter consistency.
  • Adjust baking time slightly if using a dark or glass baking pan.
  • Dulce de leche can be homemade by slowly simmering sweetened condensed milk, or store-bought can be used for convenience.
  • Chocolate chips add extra texture and richness but are optional.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Bring brownies to room temperature before serving if refrigerated for optimal flavor and texture.
